Ayiti Deploge on Bowery
Tequila Minsky, Heritagekonpa Magazine
The latest edition of AYITI DEPLOGE, Haiti Unplugged, filled the large, yet cozy club Boulevard on the Bowery in Manhattan (last weekend)
Ayiti Deploge offers a variety of Haitian music in the course of an evening including konpa with two or three musicians, rasín, jazz, pop, kreyol rap, gospel, spoken word, and poetry. Traveling its venues, the musical evenings are held in different clubs in Long Island, Queens and Haiti too.

There’s no full band, no rehearsed stage show, but a free-styled one of a kind performance. The sounds are acoustic and vocals with seasoned and well-known artists mixed with rising talent, all under the organization of Steve Azor. The shows are video taped and put out on sites on the Internet.
Ayiti Deploge's line up included Gazman Couleur , Mickael Guirand , Pauline Jean, Riddim Nation, Michou, Martine Marseille, Josminah who flew all the way from Miami, Manno Obas, Phillipe Pierre, Arcelle Appolon and Sandy Jean-Louis among others . The show was hosted by Stephanie Dernadel and Haitian-American movies and TV star Jimmy Jean-Louis.
Actor Jimmy Jean-Louis (in New York for a celebrity soccer fundraiser for Haiti) co-MCed the beginning of the evening that showcased the many different musical acts.
AYITI DEPLOGE offers undiscovered talent opportunities to be seen by the music appreciating community. For the bigger stars, here’s a chance to perform in a more intimate style and get closer to their audience.
